Match summary. Both sides played well with the hammer and both missed straightforward last rock shots to increase their score.

A heavy draw through a port that tapped his own shot stone out of the rings cost Canada a point in the 3rd, when the entire 8 foot on the right side of the sheet was open to a draw.

A Frank Duffy miss on an open draw to the 8 foot in the 4th cost a point, and a failure to guard the four foot allowed a delicate raise by Daw that scored 3 in the 5th.

But the 6th end will give both skips nightmares. Canada were outplayed in the final end - up to the last rock. GB had played the first 5 ends respecting Canada's reputation as a hitting team. With a 2 point deficit after 5 they had to get rocks into the house, and when they did they had Canada on the run. Facing 3 with his last stone, Canada skip Daw could do no better than draw to the 4 foot. Frank Duffy had an open hit to win the Gold. Here's how it unfolded.

TK 7 - tap of shot stone to back 12 - GB sit 1 on button

GC 8 - hit on shot stone and roll behind cover - Canada sit 3

MM 9 - draw is heavy to back 12 - pushing out 3rd shot stone - Canada sit 2

MM 11 take out wrecks on guard - Canada sit 3

GA 12 attempted tap back of stone sitting centre line top 12 comes up short just biting 12 - Canada sit 3

CD 14 - plays hit of 3rd shot rather than draw, avoiding possible GB tap back but his nose hit leaves Canada still sitting just 1 with 3 yellow rocks sitting bunched top 12 near the centreline - Canada sit 1

FD 15 - attempted triple take out only removes 3rd shot stone and stays as 2nd shot - Canada sit 1

CD 16 - draw to 8 foot for second point
